Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Sanctuary handles information. Sanctuary does not require account creation or sign-in. Core functionality is designed to work offline. Some optional features — including purchases and rewarded advertising — rely on third-party services that process limited technical information.
1. Introduction
Sanctuary: Anxiety & Breathing (“Sanctuary”, “the app”) is operated by The Sanctuary Co. This policy applies to the iOS app and to this website when used for Privacy Policy and Support information.
This website itself does not use cookies, analytics, or tracking technologies.
2. Information stored locally
Journal entries, mood check-ins, and reflections are stored locally on your device. They are not uploaded to The Sanctuary Co.
You may optionally enable local privacy protection (such as a passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID) to help protect journal content on the device. That protection remains on your device; biometric data is handled by the operating system and is not sent to The Sanctuary Co.
Other local app state — for example preferences, progress, and offline downloads you choose to save — is also kept on your device unless a specific feature requires a network request (such as restoring purchases or loading a rewarded ad).
3. Information processed by third-party services
Sanctuary integrates third-party software development kits (SDKs) that may process limited technical information required for advertising, purchases, diagnostics, and service operation. The Sanctuary Co. does not operate those companies’ systems.
The App Store privacy disclosure for Sanctuary currently declares these data types:
- Coarse Location
- Device ID
- Purchase History
- Product Interaction
- Advertising Data
- Crash Data
- Performance Data
Purposes, as reflected in that disclosure:
- Device ID — third-party advertising and analytics
- Purchase History — app functionality
- Product Interaction — third-party advertising and analytics
- Advertising Data — third-party advertising and analytics
- Crash Data — app functionality
- Performance Data — app functionality
- Coarse Location — third-party advertising
Coarse location may be inferred by advertising services from technical information such as IP address. Sanctuary itself does not request precise GPS location for advertising.
These categories may be linked to a user or device as described in the App Store privacy disclosure. They are not used by Sanctuary for tracking across other companies’ apps or websites.
Journal entries, mood check-ins, and reflections are not sent to these third parties.
4. Advertising
Sanctuary uses Google AdMob for optional rewarded advertising that can temporarily unlock Expanded Sanctuary. Watching a rewarded ad is optional.
Production rewarded ad requests are configured as non-personalized. The production app does not request Apple’s App Tracking Transparency permission and does not explicitly access the advertising identifier (IDFA).
Google may process limited technical and advertising-related information to deliver and measure ads. Learn more in Google’s Privacy Policy and Google’s advertising / AdMob documentation.
5. Purchases and RevenueCat
In-app purchases (including Expanded Sanctuary subscriptions and lifetime access) are processed by Apple through the App Store. The Sanctuary Co. does not receive your full payment card details.
RevenueCat is used to manage purchase entitlements and restore purchases so Expanded access can be recognised across reinstalls and devices associated with your Apple Account purchase history. RevenueCat may process purchase and entitlement-related information needed for that functionality.
See RevenueCat’s Privacy Policy for details on how RevenueCat handles information.
6. Diagnostics and performance
Crash Data and Performance Data may be processed to help keep Sanctuary stable and reliable (app functionality). This may include technical signals such as device type, operating system version, and error diagnostics. It does not include your journal or mood content.
7. Tracking
Sanctuary does not use collected data for cross-app or cross-website tracking. The production app does not request App Tracking Transparency permission and does not explicitly access IDFA.
Third-party SDKs may still process limited technical information for advertising, purchases, diagnostics, and service operation within the scope described above and in the App Store privacy labels.
8. Children’s privacy
Sanctuary is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). The Sanctuary Co. does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through third-party services used by the app, contact us using the details below so we can review appropriate steps.
9. Data retention
Local journal, mood, and reflection data remain on your device until you delete them, clear app data, or remove the app (subject to any device backups you control).
Information processed by Apple, RevenueCat, Google AdMob, or other service providers is retained according to those providers’ policies and what is needed to operate purchases, advertising, and diagnostics.
10. User choices
- You can use core Sanctuary features without creating an account.
- You can decline rewarded ads; Expanded access can also be purchased through Apple.
- You can restore eligible purchases from within Sanctuary.
- You can enable or disable optional local journal privacy protection in the app.
- You can manage Apple subscriptions, App Store preferences, and device privacy settings through iOS and your Apple Account.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page will be revised when changes are published. Continued use of Sanctuary after an update means you are informed of the revised policy as posted here.
